Under the leadership of Richard Connor, Robert Baldacci played an integral role in the financing and acquisition of the former Blethen newspaper assets in Maine. These assets included; the Portand Press Herald, Waterville Sentinel, Kennebec journal, Maine Sunday Telegram as well as a weekly in Bath, Maine and the on-line assets of the businesses including Maine Today.Com.

Baldacci worked with a number of investment firms, bank, local stakeholders as well as the newspaper trade unions throughout this process.

Purchasing a newspaper chain in the middle of a recession was a significant challenge. Baldacci credits the drive, passion and commitment of Mr. Connor for making this transaction possible. Baldacci said, ” It was a priviledge to work with Rich throughout this process. This deal would never have happened if not for Rich Connor.”

Maine Today Media today operates as an extremely successful enterprise. Mr. Connor continues to make innovations both with the newspapers as well as internet and mobile applications.

Kestrel Aircraft

Robert Baldacci worked closely with the principals of Kestrel Aircraft Alan Klapmeirer and Ed Underwood. Alan is the founder and former CEO of Ciruss Aircraft one of the most successful aircraft manufacturing companies on the globe. Ed served as a long time board member of Ciruss representing a major equity investor.

The company plans to manufacture the Kestrel at Brunswick Naval Air Station following certification of the prototype currently being developed. Baldacci is assisting with both public and private sources of financing.

Wentworth Technology

Mr. Baldacci assisted company founder and President Dick Hale with the formation of this new high tech Maine based company specializing in the design and manufacture of specialty head sets. The company recently completed its financing and is in the final design testing and prototype stage for its initial product offering to the quick service food industry. Baldacci continues to assist the company and serves on its Board of Directors.
